HERE'S A REWARD FOR STOPPING BY...

HARD THINGS

  • Give a junkie mom some hope while watching her relationship with her kids change from neglect to abuse.
  • Encouraging a 15-year-old boy in his faith while he looses his mom, his health and his finger.
  • Families sleeping in cars, halls and doorways.
  • Ministering to kids and the street community after someone in the neighborhood has been murdered.
  • Watching a cute 8 year old grow to 14 years and reject Christ and choose the streets.
  • Trying to bring some comfort to a 14-year-old boy who has just told me about finding his father dead of a self-inflicted gunshot would and stumbling over the words.
  • Driving a boy home that is in so much pain from an infection he can’t stop crying but you can’t find his mother to take him to the doctor.

GREAT THINGS

  • Fifteen teenagers showing up for Sunday School every Sunday morning when they have no parent telling them that they have to come.
  • Two boys finding a teacher at their high school that is a Christian so that they can start a prayer group during their lunch hour.
  • Being the only people invited to birthday parties who are not related to the family.
  • Listening to a 15-year-old girl talk about saving money to go to Mexico to volunteer at an orphanage to give back to the people of her heritage and her desire to become a missionary.
  • Help a 10th grader with his homework as he talks about his dream to go to Westmont College so he can get a Christian education.
  • Praying to bless an apartment that a family has just moved into.
  • Helping a family move out of the neighborhood.
  • Listen while a group of teenagers pray for the boy who found his Dad dead two months ago and he finally cries.
  • Watch the teens set the examples in their church as they worship our Lord and take each other to the altar to pray.
  • Offer to help as the youth leadership team prepare Bible study for our camping trip and being told that they have it done and don’t need my help.
  • Welcome a young man who grew up in a gang and found the Lord at Crossroads as he brings in toys for the children to play with.
  • Thank the kids for letting us be a part of their lives and share their fun with us.
